Annual Inspection at Year 24
I got to take home the removed parts, so I had a look at them
Fuel Filter Observation
With the odometer approaching 100,000 km, I wanted to replace as many consumables as possible.
I took the removed filter home and sprayed it with parts cleaner, but nothing gunky came out of it, which was anticlimactic.
The hoses, unsurprisingly, were rock hard.
Exhaust Replacement
I already knew the exhaust had to come off for the fuel filter replacement, so I decided to swap it out.
The original OEM exhaust I’d been running had its muffler tip dented from hitting a curb, and the end pipe had developed rust — it was pretty tired.
I had purchased a spare OEM exhaust on Yahoo Auctions back in 2022, so I swapped it in.
Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (New)
Apparently there was piston drag occurring.
I could have gone with a rebuild, but since new ones were still available, I went with a replacement.
I plan to rebuild the removed calipers eventually, and I’ve at least disassembled them for now.
However, the pistons had pitting, so reusing them looks questionable.
There was also rust on the dust boot seating area, so I’d want to properly polish that before reassembly.
